The Bible

The Christian Bible is God’s letter written by a handful of divinely inspired men for the benefit of all mankind.

It is a collection of true stories, each of which complements the other, building and supporting a single truth: that righteous God stands alone and graciously invites sinful man to fellowship with Him through the living faith of surrendered lives, both His and ours -- His life surrendered through the person of Jesus Christ for reaching out, and our lives surrendered in accepting His outstretched hand.

Through this single, stand-alone record of God's revelation to man, we learn as much about our utter depravity as we do about God's absolute goodness. It clearly spells out God's genuine desire for man's full redemption and proves His repeated effort to bring it about in spite of man's lack of cooperation – indeed, in spite of man's inability to cooperate without God's aid. The Holy Bible is the place where words such as grace, love, and mercy are birthed and purely defined by God's own personal illustration, and it is the home of living faith, eternal hope, and real freedom.

Not only does the Bible demonstrate God's initiative and patient willingness to forgive sin, but it also shows both His eventual intolerance for sin and His sudden judgment upon those with hard hearts -- those who have wholly positioned themselves against His costly effort to save them from their sin. Through the Holy Bible, God is visibly portrayed as He really is -- overwhelming both in forgiving grace as well as in His swift and eternal sentence upon those not willing to accept that grace.

It is the only story that, when mixed with living faith, is able to liberate its reader truly and completely, regardless of the strength of his or her bondage. Indeed, the whole Bible story could be called Exodus since it leads mankind to his way of escape from sorrow -- his only way. And not only does it lead to his way of escape from sorrow, but it also shows him the way to highest joy -- his greatest pleasure being fulfilled in his unhindered, eternal walk with his Creator and loving Redeemer.

There is no book like the Bible -- none that even compares. While squeezed amid a trillion other books, it still stands all alone. It is the most coveted book for all mankind for all time, and rightfully so. For this reason, we cherish it; many of us possess several copies of it; we carry it with us wherever we go; we read it; we study it; we believe it! We accept its authority above all other books, prophecies, dreams, and visions – above the words of men and even angels.

And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
(2 Timothy 3:15-17)

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. (Psalms 119:105)

Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
(Psalms 119:11)
