Whatever happened to a Christian's personal discipline?

"But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation."  I Thess. 5:9

Hello!  Is anyone paying attention to what God is really saying and doing?

DEFINITIONS:

Asleep - in a state of sleeping; inactive; dormant; indifferent; numb; or in a state of apathy
Drunk -
overcome or dominated by a strong feeling of emotion

Multitudes of Christians are either asleep or drunk spiritually.  Some assume that everything going on around them will work itself out - after all, it has always done so in the past; or they assume that the Lord is going to return any moment so they can just sit back and go along as usual, waiting for His rescue.  They are too laze to press into the Lord concerning this hour; and they have discounted a true Word from the Lord for so long concerning the times and seasons of the hour, that their ears are deaf to the trumpet sound of the Lord today.  They may know a lot of foundational truths about God as He relates to man, but they have a (stiff) form of God, denying His power today!  Those who fall into this camp are asleep, or even dead.  Needless to say, there is little hope for them.

Still, there are others who are at the other extreme - they jump and shout about everything that moves.  They listen to whoever claims a dream, or a vision, or a Word from the Lord; and swallow it hook, line and sinker.  They change with every wind of doctrine if it meets their basic need - exciting the mind and emotions.  They are so given to their emotions and their craving for action, such as miracles, signs and wonders, that they are following whatever Christian guru comes along, especially if he or she is on television or radio - no questions ask.  I call these drunk Christians.  They hardly have a foundation in the Word yet consider themselves super-spiritual.

Oh, how we need balance of the Word and the Spirit!  Oh, how we need disciplined Christians!  Oh, how we need to add spiritual understanding with knowledge!  My dear brother and sister in Christ, let us seek with all our heart to be found on the solid foundation of God's Word and Spirit of Truth together!  Those who have fallen asleep should give heed to His Spirit's Word for this hour, while those given to action (like that which the Spirit may offer), should heed to Bible truth - giving time and prayer to the scriptures.
