Will You Allow Him to Finish His Good Work in You?




Why Jesus Came the First Time - Part One
This is the first in a brief series of revival messages asking the question whether we will allow Him to finish His work in us.  The apostle Paul expressed confidence that God would finish the good work God had begun in the church at Philippi, but the five of the seven churches Jesus spoke to through the revelation given to John were on the brink of failure.  What will happen to you?

Also, this begins a two part message on why Jesus came the first time and why He's coming the second.  It is very eye-opening to understand that He came the first time to conquer our hearts and minds, not to fully establish His kingdom here.  He will do that the next time He comes.  Now, our focus should not be on making the world Christian through laws and commandments, but rather our focus should be upon His kingdom within. The residual value of that will lead to His kingdom's work out in the world.  
The Battle for His Body
Our Lord said that He would "build His church" and that "the gates of hell will not prevail against it"  (Matthew 16:18).  With this declaration, we can be confident that He is going to complete His work in us.  Through this brief message, we recognize the continuing struggle for His body to arrive to His fullness, but we give confidence that it will surely come in the end!
Fear of the Perfect Priesthood
When Adam sinned, he lost his opportunity to fellowship openly with God.  It is this absence of relationship with God that Satan has always guarded.  As long as he can keep God and man separated, he can win the battle.  When man arrived to his priestly position through Christ, we were enabled to have influence with our Father once again, and to have power over Satan.  Jesus Christ is in that position of perfect priesthood in the heavens, and His completed body (locally) is in that perfect (compete) position for perfect-priesthood praying on earth.  This is why Satan works tirelessly to keep the body of Christ in the earth scattered and hurting.
Importance of the Teachings of Jesus
Of course, it is very important for us to re-acquaint ourselves with what Jesus taught. Among other things, He expanded our understanding of what God wanted through the written law.  The grace and truth filled out the skeleton of law, putting flesh on its bones.  It pointed to the need for obedience from the inner man of the heart - and it still does.  Ultimately, His teaching reminds us that God is looking at the heart; this represents the foundation of all that we learn.
Believing the Gospel - 1
Believing faith that saves is much more than simply acknowledging that God exists, that Jesus Christ is His Son, and that He died and rose again for our sins.  "Even the demons believe and tremble."  Saving faith is a belief that is lived out through one's actions.  It corresponds with someone who has new birth - who is born again by the Spirit of the Lord.  One's whole life takes on a new position, and that change is reflected through at least a desire to obey God.  
In Consideration of Real Revival
Many believers say they want revival, and probably they are sincere.  But there is much to consider if we would actually experience a reviving of the Spirit.  This message answers five questions about revival.  Ultimately, it is important to know that God WANTS to revive us.  He never intended that we would need reviving in the first place, but that we would continue in the strength of His Spirit.  He is awaiting our cry, and He will pour Himself out again.
The Need for the Baptism of the Holy Spirit
To be born again is to possess God's Spirit; but there is a baptism of the Spirit that enables believers to excel in their gift/s.  This is essential to the believer's ability to represent God as He has ordained that we should do.  While it is important, let us remember that this baptism does not make any believer superior to any other one; neither does it guarantee a successful Christian life.  There is only one Lord among all believers, and regardless of one's spiritual endowments, it is necessary that each of us surrenders to the Spirit's life if we would be successful in Him.

God began speaking to man from his very beginning, and He has never stopped.  Contrary to what many believers teach and believe, God still speaks today; and it is the voice of the Lord that we need to hear, now more than ever before.  Have you heard His voice lately?  Have you ever heard Him speak?  When you hear the Lord speak, something must take place in your life.  HIS Word cannot return to Him void.  Maybe you should cry aloud, asking Him to speak to you.  This He will do!

God's People Are Not Prepared - 1
Most believers say they want to be with the Lord - and that is the way it should be. But most believes do not realize that even we will have to give an account of ourselves to the Lord at some point after we see Him.  The Lord does not threaten us with this truth.  He is FOR us and NOT against us; nonetheless, we are accountable to Him for our actions after we have received Him.  All want to see Him, but few of us are actually ready to meet Him as that readiness relates to our actions.

God Is Folding Up

The writer of Hebrews makes succinctly clear that, at God's appointed time, He will change the world as we know it.  He quotes an Old Testament prophet by saying, "He will fold the earth up like a garment."  Well, we are living in that very time, when God is indeed folding up the earth as we know it and bringing about a great change. This calls for special attention on our part, and most are not aware, or interested. However, our unpreparedness will not alter God's time.
That Rock was Christ
It is difficult to summarize this message.  It is one of the most Spirit-revealing messages that I have ever received concerning the grace of God at work in the believer.  This compares the rock in the wilderness, from which water flowed, both to Jesus Christ and to us.  It is a great revelation and encouragement about the Spirit's work in the life of the believer.
Fire in the Threshold - 1
Our Lord said that He came to send fire on the earth, but that it would not come until after He had gone through His cross experience and resurrection.  That fire was and is the Holy Spirit at work within the believer to cleanse and purify (sanctify) our daily walk.  With that in mind, the Bible prophesies that "the sons of Levi," or God's people, will be tried with Fire in the last days for the purpose of walking in righteousness.  We are living in that time when all those who claim Him will be visited by Him in such a way that leads to their purification in daily life.

In Route to the Cross - 1
When Jesus and His disciples were about to make their last trip into Jerusalem, when He would be crucified, He asked them who they believed He was.  When they answered positively, agreeing with Peter that He was "the Christ," He challenged their confession.  He was getting them ready to face the challenge of that belief as they were about to be confronted with His cross.  Peter was zealous, and so were the others, but they needed more than zeal to maintain their faith.  Many of us today are the same way, and it is a dangerous position to be in, seeing that we are all in route to a cross ourselves.
